JWRC conducts joint research projects on the purification and pipeline engineering technology with Health and Labour Sciences Research Grants from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare as well as contributions from private companies. The research outcomes are used to develop various operation manuals. |
Waterworks operations are increasingly diversified and thus require different approaches for practical solutions. JWRC has been committed to finding better ways to address changing needs in waterworks through cooperation with private sector. The activities in which JWRC took part in the past include: setting international and domestic standards on water/wastewater services (“ISO/TC224” and “Guidelines for the management and assessment of a drinking water supply service [JWWA Q 100]"); establishing a qualification system for waterworks engineers; and analyzing statistics for Performance Indicators (PI) for water utilities.
JWRC has also collected and analyzed annual statistical information on small-scale water utilities nationwide.

JWRC has undertaken advanced or fundamental researches such as waste reduction and effective utilization of hydro-electric energy. JWRC aims to secure the stable supply of safe and good-tasting drinking water through activities mentioned above.
